Hello Everyone! My husband and I love chocolate chip cookies so I was very excited for this recipe. I was scrolling through Pinterest and decided it would be fun for my husband and I to do some baking together. The recipe I chose was called “Sourdough Chocolate Chip Cookies (Freezer Friendly Option!)” which can be found on realandrustic.com. I will be adding the direct link to my links and supplies page.

A cozy gray knitted bottle cover with soft, fluffy white spots, placed on a countertop next to red containers.
I can’t make the cookies without help from Fernandough!
After opening the jar, Fernandough was bubbling over the sides and ready to use!

The cookies were very easy to make and they even included instructions on how to freeze the dough. I think this would be a great idea for those of you who have a sweet tooth! Anytime you get a craving for something sweet you could just get a few balls of dough out of the freezer and follow the instructions on the link provided. I wanted my cookies right away so I didn’t end up freezing any of my dough. If any of you decide to freeze your dough, I would love to know how it turns out!

These delicious cookies can be made almost entirely out of ingredients you already have at home. This recipe calls for butter, light brown sugar, granulated sugar, large eggs, sourdough discard, vanilla extract, all-purpose flour, baking soda, salt, and chocolate chips. I used semi-sweet dark chocolate chips and used extra so we would have a chocolate chip with every bite! You could also substitute with other flavors like white chocolate, butterscotch, milk chocolate and the list goes on.

The first step is to brown your butter. I had never done this before so I was a little skeptical of how it would turn out. I placed my butter in the sauce pan and browned it per the recipe instructions and added it to my bowl of white and brown sugar. Make sure you stir until it is fluffy. Using a stand mixer would be best, but you can definitely do this by hand it just feels like it takes longer. Next, you’ll add your sourdough discard, eggs, and vanilla and mix thoroughly. All of the dry ingredients will need to be mixed in a separate bowl and then added to your wet ingredients.

Now it’s time to add in your chocolate chips! Once you have your chips folded in the dough, it will need to be refrigerated for 1 hour. I covered mine with the Esembly bowl covers I bought off of Amazon. The link to these covers are on my links and supplies page if you are interested!

The hardest part was the waiting because no matter how old you get, you’ll always want a chocolate chip cookie! Once the hour was up, we took our dough out of the fridge. The recipe calls for a cookie scoop, but I did not have one. We ended up scooping out our dough with a spoon and putting them into little sections on our parchment paper. This was very easy to do so don’t stress if you’re like me and don’t have a cookie scoop to use.

We ended up making 24 cookies which is what the recipe originally makes. I didn’t want to use both of my oven racks since the bottom one always cooks quicker so we ended up doing three individual batches. We preheated our oven to 350 degrees and used the full 15 minutes for each batch.

Y’all!!!! These were soooo good!!! I will definitely make these again! Please see the link in my links and supplies page if you would like to follow along with the recipe I used.

I’m wondering if I could make this same recipe using blueberries instead of chocolate chips. Hmmm.. If you think I can, let me know! If you end up trying this recipe out then please let me know what you think! Stay tuned!

Sincerely,

Tiara
