Hello Everyone,
I wanted to share with you the recipe I used to make sourdough buttermilk pancakes! Yes, this is the buttermilk I saved from the butter that I made in my previous post. I made them both the same weekend, but haven’t been able to post about the pancakes until now.
The recipe I used is from plumbranchhome.com and it is their ‘Sourdough Buttermilk Pancakes’ recipe.
Here are the ingredients you will need!
- 1 cup Buttermilk
- 1 Egg
- 2 tbsp. Raw Honey
- 1/2 cup Sourdough Discard
- 1 tsp. Pure Vanilla Extract
- 1 tsp. Baking Powder
- 1/2 tsp. Baking Soda
- 1/2 tsp. Sea Salt
- 3/4 cup All-Purpose Flour
Here are the supplies you will need!
- Measuring Cups
- 1 tsp.
- 1/2 tsp.
- 1 tbsp.
- 1 cup
- 1/2 cup
- 1/4 cup
- Griddle or Pan
- Bowl
- Whisk
- Electric mixer (Optional)
- Wire Rack (Optional)
Once all your ingredients are gathered, measure them out and mix together in a mixing bowl. You can use an electric mixer but be careful not to over mix it. According to this recipe, if you over mix the batter, it will make your pancakes come out rubbery.
I did not do the optional cold ferment since I wanted to make my pancakes that morning for breakfast. However, if you are interested in doing that then please see the recipe in my links and supplies page so you can follow along.
I used my griddle to cook my pancakes because it allows me to cook 4 pancakes at one time. If you’re using your stove, I would recommend setting your pan to medium heat.
I usually use a small measuring cup to get the perfect size pancake. This always works for me, but if you have a trick to getting the perfect sized pancakes then comment below! I would love to hear what everyone else has been doing.
Cook your pancakes until you can see little bubbles forming around the edges and then flip. Once you take them off the burner, butter the tops, add your toppings and enjoy!!

I felt like these pancakes turned out flatter than the other pancake recipe I tried. According to my husband, they were easier to eat since they weren’t so fluffy. I’ll have to agree with him on that. Once you add your butter, peanut butter, and syrup it’s hard not to get any on your face while you’re eating.
I hope you enjoy this recipe! I know we did! Stay tuned to see what I make next!
Sincerely,
Tiara
